This mattress helps dissipate body temperature
Extreme weather patterns have definitely affected the way people sleep. Summer days have become hotter, making it hard for people to sleep without air conditioning. Rainy days have become longer and wetter, creating a more humid environment, making the bedroom—specifically the bed—the perfect breeding ground for mildew and bacteria.
Mattresses, however, have evolved from simple spring and foam beds to ones that are packed with new technology. The new Dunlopillo CoolSilk Version 3.0, for instance, has cooling technology that makes for a more comfortable sleep during hot days. “We infused it with nanogel technology in the fabric so it's very cooling. And with this 3.0, we infused the latex itself with copper so that it's odorless as well,” explains Jam Chan Cua, managing director of Dunlopillo Philippines.
The brand, which was founded in the United Kingdom, manufactures premium mattresses that are packed with innovations. Its new mattress features the CoolSilk Fabric that was enhanced with Talasilver Wave Copper-Flex Latex that helps dissipate body heat, improve airflow, and regulate temperature.
“The CoolSilk Version 3.0 was designed to deliver a cooler, cleaner, and more comfortable sleep experience through advanced technologies such as antibacterial protection and copper-infused materials. We want every night of sleep to be as restorative as possible," explained Ariadna Salas, Export and Business Development.
The Nano-G Technology helps for a more hygienic sleep while the Multi-Zone Progressa Dual Pocketed Spring System adapts to the user's body shape and sleeping position. The spring system also minimizes motion transfer for less sleep disturbance.
Firm is in
According to Jam, when it comes to Filipinos' firmness preference, many of the brand's customers are buying firm mattresses.
“When I started with our family business, which was 11 years ago, I noticed that almost all of my customers want soft, Actually our bestseller before is soft but now I noticed a lot of our customers want firm and medium firm,” Jam said.
Medium firm to firm mattresses offer more support. Jan said that customers would also ask for hotel bed-like mattresses, but in the end body support is more important that plush and soft.
“That's why it's a hotel, you sleep there once or twice, you don't sleep there long. If it's soft and your spine isn't straight, you're not supported,” she said.
In health-living, deep sleep is important because that's when the body repairs itself. Having the proper sleep is part of a healthy lifestyle.
“What I also notice among Filipinos, they are more health conscious now, they really want to value health and extend their life. So they prefer firm because when you sleep when your spine is straight, cell generation is faster,” Jam shared.
